Your adrenals are small but mighty glands that sit atop your kidneys and help regulate your body’s stress response, metabolism, immune system, and even blood pressure. Supporting your adrenal health is critical to various functions in the body, and it’s even more important when you’re experiencing high levels of stress for prolonged periods of time. If you’ve been feeling like your adrenals are “shot” or want to help support your body’s overall health via the endocrine system, our limited-edition fall blend, Adrenal Come True, is your new friend.
Adrenal Come True contains nutritive herbs that target adrenal health specifically (though the health of adrenals is closely tied to health of the thyroid through the adrenal-thyroid axis). Read on to learn how all the ingredients nourish and support your adrenal health.

Moringa:
Moringa leaves are a rich source of many of the nutrients needed for proper thyroid function. They contain protein, vitamins, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, amino acids, and antioxidants. The herb contains a considerable amount of vitamin A, as much as 10 times the amount as found in your typical carrot. Clinical studies have shown that vitamin A consumption supports thyroid hormone regulation. Moringa is also rich in vitamin B-carotene and vitamin C. Vitamin C is also important for thyroid health as it is involved in protein metabolism – metabolism is regulated by our thyroid hormones. The high vitamin content of moringa also supports healthy immune function, can boost collagen production, and helps protect our cells from the damaging effects of free radicals in the body. Up to 25% of the leaf’s weight is made up of essential amino acids and proteins, which contribute to bone and muscle strength. It’s definitely one of our favorites

Horsetail:
Like moringa, horsetail is rich in many of the nutrients key to healthy thyroid and adrenal function – calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium. Studies have shown its wide array of benefits for our bodies as a whole. Horsetail has antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiproliferative properties. It is also extremely high in silica. Silica is a key ingredient for collagen production in the body, as well as calcium absorption, in turn supporting healthy hair, skin, nails, and connective tissue. This flavonoid-rich ancient herb was used traditionally to curb inflammation and has shown recent promise for use in anti-cancer formulas.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleuthero):
Siberian ginseng is a nourishing and energizing adaptogenic root. It has been traditionally used for over 2,000 years to increase energy levels and improve vitality. Recent research has shown its incredible value for supporting healthy adrenal function and regulating our stress response along the HPA-axis. Consistent use of Siberian ginseng  benefits adrenal function in several ways. First, it can increase the effectiveness of the stress hormones secreted by the adrenal gland – which can fatigue overtime when we are in a constant state of “fight or flight.” Next, it can increase our overall cellular energy to improve proper function. Lastly, it can decrease adrenal hypertrophy (enlargement). When the adrenal gland is in a better state of balance, it also improves thyroid function as they work in tandem with each other.

Holy Basil (Tulsi):
Holy basil is a potent yet gentle adaptogen that supports almost every system in our body. In Ayurveda, tulsi is known as the "Queen of Herbs" and is considered a powerful tonic for the mind, body, and spirit. Modern studies have shown time and time again its value for regulating metabolic processes, enhancing mood, and removing toxins from the body. The key attribute for its inclusion in this blend is its ability to reduce our stress response. The unique and powerful pharmacological actions of holy basil support the body in coping with emotional, environmental, chemical, and even infectious stressors. During a six-week study, use of holy basil resulted in generally lower stress levels, less feelings of exhaustion, and better sleep. The herb also supports thyroid regulation. An animal study revealed its ability to normalize thyroid hormone levels (T3 & T4) which impact our metabolism and mood.

We’ve included all of these incredible herbs in Adrenal Come True so that your adrenals can truly work their magic. Flavor-wise, this blend has a slightly sweet, lightly floral, and mild green-earthy flavor. It can be utilized in a variety of ways, such as in a milk-based latte, simply mixed with hot water like a tea, added to a smoothie or yogurt bowl, or mixed with other blends and single herbs such as Blue Me Away, Firm Believer, or Shatavari
