Calm and Clear Your Complexion with Our New Vegan Formulation of You Dew You

By Casie Giroux
Our new and improved You Dew You blend was reformulated with the same great benefits of our previous blend– to reduce skin irritations and redness, address inflammatory skin conditions, decrease acne, and improve overall skin elasticity and glow– but now is 100% vegan. The previous collagen has been replaced with the skin-cleansing and nourishing herb, burdock root.
Supporting the skin from within is key for addressing the root cause of many inflammatory skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis that many people would typically treat with an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream. The herbs in You Dew You are packed with antioxidants to curb inflammation, help restore gut and liver balance, and support skin regeneration. For hormonal acne, You Dew You can help target hormonal imbalances, reducing acne breakouts and inflammation while increasing healthy hormone detoxification through gentle liver support.
Meet the plants responsible for your dewy glow:
Burdock Root
Burdock root has been utilized as a medicinal plant for centuries across the world. Traditionally, it was taken as a detoxification aid, a soothing agent for various ailments of the skin, and a digestive tonic. The nutritive roots are rich in vitamin C, iron, calcium, and magnesium. They also contain the prebiotic fiber inulin which feeds our good gut bacteria. There is a strong relationship between our gut health and our skin: an imbalanced gut microbiome can further aggravate inflammatory skin conditions.
Burdock is considered an alterative herb. Alterative herbs improve our processes of elimination through the blood and other pathways like urination, skin, and bowels. Through these processes, burdock can help improve complexion, decrease acne, and even improve skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Without proper elimination via the liver, excess hormones may recirculate back into the body – further contributing to symptoms of imbalance like acne. A recent study revealed burdock root’s value in decreasing Gram-positive activity (common bacteria leading to acne). Its antibacterial and antioxidant properties, combined with its ability to promote the synthesis of collagen, works to improve skin quality and elasticity. Its mild bitter action can stimulate appetite while working to improve both digestive and liver function.
Hibiscus
Hibiscus is widely cultivated and consumed as a refreshing tea throughout the world. The dried red calyx (part of the hibiscus flower) holds most of the plant's medicinal properties, but the leaves, seeds, and flowers have also been utilized traditionally. Some historical uses of hibiscus include using it to lower internal body temperature, drinking the tea as a tonic for the heart, and as a remedy to ease cold and sore throat symptoms.
Modern research has pointed to its many potential and proven benefits for the skin. Due to its high vitamin C content, hibiscus can act as a healing agent to damaged skin through its ability to boost collagen synthesis and cell growth in the body. Vitamin C intake is important for supporting healthy skin and preventing skin damage from UV radiation. Additionally, the plant’s potent antioxidant activities (scavenging for free radicals and reactive oxygen) can prevent premature skin aging. Beyond the skin, hibiscus research has shown the flower can block starch and sugar absorption, which can aid in weight loss and blood sugar balancing.
Chaga
Chaga has been traditionally used to manage skin conditions for centuries, due to its antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties. Its high nutrient and antioxidant content, combined with its anti-inflammatory actions, contribute to its ability to decrease irritations of the skin and support a fresh-looking glow. A recent in vitro study revealed chaga’s powerful potential for anti-aging activity. Studies have shown its possibility for balancing blood sugar levels and having a beneficial impact on cholesterol, contributing to overall heart health and function.
Cordyceps
Cordyceps mushrooms are best known for their ability to support energy, stamina and immunity, but these small mushrooms have several benefits for the skin as well. Cordyceps is packed with essential amino acids and vitamins that have varying attributes that work to improve our skin. Amino acids are nourishing to the skin and can boost its overall hydration, while its vitamin C content can support natural collagen production. Vitamin E in cordyceps helps prevent premature aging through its ability to protect cells against oxidative stress. Lastly, high cortisol (stress!) levels can increase acne outbreaks and reactive skin conditions, and the vitamin B2 and B3 content in cordyceps can help reduce high cortisol levels for a clearer complexion.
Your stress levels aren’t the only thing that’ll calm down from these incredible plants in You Dew You. Add it into your daily rotation for a calmer and clearer glow—no pimple patch or hydrocortisone cream required.
